How To Be A Successful Full-time RVer
Author: Jim Johnson
Making the decision to take off on the open highway to see the countryside in a modern RV or motorhome is the fancy of numerous people these days. And Americans are increasingly doing just that. It's an venturesome and free-wheeling lifestyle that appeals to many folks. But before you get rid of your home and head out on the open highway give some considerations to three things that will have a crucial impact on your choice.
The chief and most significant concern for many is their financial position and budget. It's correct that living on the road can be accomplished quite inexpensively, but it is not without cost and there are expenses connected with it. It's beyond the range of this article to completely elaborate on all of those expenses, but it will call for advance planning, analysis and preparation on your part to be really ready financially for the change you want to make.
The amount of funds you have to spend will impact the model of motorhome that you are qualified to buy and how you buy it. If you can pay for it all up front that can be a great thing, but if you cannot manage to do that be certain to factor in the expense of monthly payments in the projected budget. Try to plainly lay out a reasonable comprehensive budget for each month in advance. It's a great suggestion to talk to RVers who have been on the road for a while and ask them to assist you with your budget. Most times they can give you insights into monetary considerations that would have not occurred to you any other way.
The next move is to determine just where you wish to go and what you desire to see as you travel. It's astounding how many folks literally leave the full-timing lifestyle soon after starting it because they jumped into it without much planning in advance, and once they were on the road found out that it just didn't fit them. So plan in advance about what you wish to do while traveling and whether you feel that it will keep your interest in the long run.
Lastly, it's a really good idea to actually rent a motorhome and spend some time in it on small trips initially before you even begin to think about deciding on the full-timing lifestyle change. If you haven't spent much time in an RV you actually don't understand for sure how you will take to it on an extended basis. It's not for everybody, so why not put in some time now to see if those kind of accommodations work for over the long haul. You will ascertain more from just a week or so of truly staying in a motorhome than you can from going through volumes about it.
Advance planning and forethought is necessary to make the earnest commitment needed to be a thriving full-time RVer. But if you do the correct kind of examination in advance, it can help you start out on this new venturesome chapter of your life with genuine confidence.
